The Problem
: Nutrients added to mixed feed are inevitably administered to the horse in uncontrolled doses in order to achieve the calorie intake necessary for weight maintenance. This leads to overfeeding of horses that are poor feed converters—who are given larger quantities—while animals with low energy requirements receive too few of the nutritional supplements.
The Solution
: When feeding Barn Bag® instead of mixed feed, a horse receives the necessary nutrients without additional, excess calories. Barn Bag® is suitable for horses that should be fed a low-carbohydrate diet—that is, good feed converters with or without excess weight—as well as animals with insulin resistance, Cushing’s syndrome, metabolic syndrome, or laminitis. 85 g of Barn Bag® per day is sufficient to provide an average 450 kg horse with the necessary nutrients.
If your horse is a poor feed converter, needs to maintain or gain weight, or is competing, it may require an additional source of calories. In these cases, you should supplement the horse’s diet with beet pulp or vegetable oil in addition to Barn Bag® and whole oats.
One package (5 kg) lasts for about 60 days for a 450 kg horse.
