Olive-head snaffle bit, Sweet Cooper, single-jointed, 12.5 cm, 16 mm

The olive-head snaffle is characterized by a fixed ring. Compared to a water snaffle, the sides should fit about one centimeter closer to the corners of the mouth. The olive-head design prevents the corners of the mouth from getting pinched in the rings. The horse cannot push the bit upward with its tongue, so the mouthpiece rests more calmly in the mouth and is stabilized slightly more from the sides. Since the ring does not rotate, the result is a slightly more direct action with a gentle influence on the neck. However, the difference from the snaffle bit is not noticeable to either the horse or most riders. 

The single-jointed mouthpiece sits more securely in the mouth than a double-jointed one and distributes pressure across the horse’s cheeks; the center joint reduces pressure on the tongue. The olive head provides slight lateral stabilization and guidance, creating calmness and stability in the horse’s mouth. The sweet-tasting SWEET copper is particularly well-accepted by horses and encourages the horse to take the bit.
