KK Ultra Wind-Up Bit, 16 mm, double-jointed, 13.5 cm

This double-jointed slip-on bit from Sprenger stands out for its ergonomic design; thanks to the joint angled 45° forward, pressure is distributed optimally and, above all, evenly across the tongue. What makes a slip-on bit unique are the Perlon cords (also available in the shop) that are threaded through the bit from the sides; the rein is attached to the lower ring of one cord, while the other end is strapped into the noseband as a replacement for the cheek piece. This system is designed to tilt and lift the bit when the reins are taken up and should therefore only be used with subtle aids. Slip-on bits are particularly suitable for horses that are very strong or for very sensitive horses, as the rider gains maximum control through the dual rein system (if desired). The arrow—visible on one side, a hallmark of Sprenger—indicates the correct way to fasten the bit; therefore, the tip of the arrow should always point forward on the horse’s left side.
